Yes, by today's standards people may call it corny but the movie is able to carry itself without the benefit of multimillion dollar special effects. It is suspenseful, scary, and yet makes you think in the end. If you are looking for a jewel of a classic horror film to add to your collection, I highly recommend Gargoyles. Cornel Wilde delivers a great performance as always. I was about 12 or 13 but he was scary as hell. The first time I saw this movie the King gargoyle scared the bejesus out of me. A great horror movies from the 70s, a time when you were entertained by performances, make up, and scenery.
